October 7, 2013 Contact: Lynette Borelli-Glidewell Professor of Theatre Arts (209) 575-6621 [email protected] PRESS RELEASE – For Immediate Release MJC Theatre presents Frankenstein, a classic tale of horror and suspense (Modesto, CA) –The Modesto Junior College Theatre Department will stage the play Frankenstein by Victor Gianlanella beginning October 24 with a Student Preview Night at 7:30 p.m., a special Halloween Show on Oct. 31 at 10 p.m., (includes a costume contest at 9 p.m.), regular performances held Oct. 25, Oct. 26, November 1 and Nov. 2 at 7:30 p.m. and a matinee performance on Nov. 3 at 2 p.m. in the Auditorium on East Campus. The play Frankenstein is a classic tale of horror and suspense that details the ill-fated experiments of Victor Frankenstein as he attempts to fathom the secrets of life and death. Purchasing cadavers from two unsavory grave robbers, he gives life to a creature both hideous and touching. Adhering more closely to the original Mary Shelley novel than did the famous motion picture versions, the play blends moments of humor, philosophy and terror and questions morality and the dangers of unrestrained scientific inquiry. Sean Trew will play Victor Frankenstein in the MJC production, with Jon Cates as Henry Clerval, Marc Pratt in the role of The Creature and Rachel Pearre as Elizabeth. The MJC production is directed by Professor Lynette Borrelli-Glidewell. Tickets for the Student Preview Night are $5 for students, and all other performances are $8 for students and seniors and $10 general admission. Tickets may be purchased at the Auditorium Box Office, Tuesday through Friday, 12 noon to 5 p.m., or by calling the Box Office at 575-6776 during these hours. Tickets may also be purchased online at http://mjc.tix.com -MJC-
