CONTACT: Julie Haynes Vet Tech and Equine Science Department Modesto Junior College (209) 575-6872 [email protected] PRESS RELEASE – For Immediate Release MJC offers Equine Open House on December 7 (Modesto, CA)—Modesto Junior College invites the public to the Equine Open House on Saturday, December 7, from 8 a.m. to 12 noon at the West Campus Equine Unit. There is no admission charged and campus parking is free. Students will be demonstrating techniques and answering questions about what they have been doing with the horses in the Introduction To Colt Training course this fall semester. Most demonstrations will begin around 9 a.m. All of the horses are for sale with the proceeds going directly to the program. “You do not need to be interested in buying a horse to come out,” notes Julie Haynes, professor of equine science and director of the veterinary technician program. “We really hope that people with an interest in horses will come out just to learn more about the program as well as meet the students. The program was a huge success this semester, thanks to the many donations we received following the theft of equipment that occurred last summer. We would love people to come out and see what the donations have done for students and horses.” Questions regarding the Equine Open House or program may be directed to Haynes at 575-6872. -MJC- November 20, 2013
